In the cool darkness of the night,
I sit by glowing embers
Observing the starlight.
I am mesmerized by the sight
Of the dark sky's shining members
In the cool darkness of the night.
Nothing better could I write
Than the beauty of the sky.
I'm observing the starlight.
Through my telescope on my right,
I see the nebula like an eye
In the cool darkness of the night.
From my sandwich, I take a bite
Then back on my blanket I lay,
Observing the starlight.
Someday I really hope I might
Go up there, but for now I'll stay
In the cool darkness of the night,
Observing the starlight.
